[nerd]Well, I reckon if you apply it to the exchange games using a base 13 numbering system, you should be able to come up with some sort of curve which will find an edge of a sort in the exchange games. You wouldn't be able to solely rely on it, you would have to have other algorithms going in there as well and use it as a weighting system to make decisions. Doable, but complicated.
The other thing we came up with was that someone had done a benfords analysis on horseracing and found the correlation with 1st, 2nd, 3rd [etc etc] favourites coming in seemed to fall along the Benfords curve fairly neatly.[/nerd]
Maybe one day when I have more time I'll play with it, but at the moment, too much to do.
