Default Android or iPhone as development platform?

With the popularity of the Android platform growing, the Linux OS foundations and more OEMs getting onboard (HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony, BenQ, Acer) what will you you be doing? and then there is Apple reducing the cost of their entry level models and the iPhones cool factor.

In a year's time I think it will be a no-contest, just because of the selection of hardware available to run Android. (Hopefully they will still be as easy to root as current HTC Androids)
Personally I would be happy with a Pay as you Go provider that didn't block port 22, then I could just use puTTy to ssh home from my Nokia 6600.

Looks like Nokia are hitting back in the high-end smartphone market; their new n900 looks the business and runs Maemo (based on debian linux), rather than the usual Symbian.
It seems to take the best bits from the n800 series tablets and the n95/n97 smartphones, so maybe a "third way" for mobile device development?
